Role Summary:

The Technical Product Management team at GH Labs is responsible for guiding the full lifecycle of innovative global health products, from concept to market. These solutions—spanning devices, low-cost sensors, software/AI, and in vitro diagnostics—are tailored to address critical healthcare needs in low and middle-income countries, often used in the field or primary care clinics by nurses.

 

All products undergo thorough clinical validation adhering to local regulatory requirements, which may include approvals from bodies like the US FDA or other relevant country-specific agencies. We ensure that product costs are designed to be affordable and sustainable within local healthcare systems. Through partnerships with global, mid-size, and local companies, we ensure these innovations are accessible and impactful where they are needed most.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Define Strategy & Roadmap: Lead the strategy and roadmap for AI-augmented healthcare products, targeting unmet clinical needs in primary care in low and middle-income countries (LMICs).
  • Requirements & Product-Market Fit: Gather clinical and market insights to define product requirements. Ensure each solution is economically viable and cost-effective from the outset and designed and developed, taking into account the local context.
  • Devices and Sensors: Conduct competitive landscape and technical analyses of medical devices, including low-cost sensors, wearables, digital solutions, and in vitro diagnostics. Lead the inception and development of these solutions, from needs identification and requirements generation to engineering design, verification, validation, and regulatory approval.
  • Economic & Clinical Validation: Drive rigorous clinical validation and ensure products meet local regulatory standards. Conduct early-stage economic assessments to guarantee viability in low-resource settings.
  • Partnerships & Stakeholder Management: Manage key relationships with partners, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), ensuring alignment on goals, timelines, and solution delivery.
  • Innovate & Scale: Push innovation in sensors, mobile health and AI, focusing on scalable, low-cost solutions that fit seamlessly into healthcare workflows.
  • Cross-functional Leadership: Lead diverse teams, from engineers to clinicians, to deliver impactful, market-ready products that improve care in LMICs.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • MS in Computer Sciences, Engineering, Statistics, or equivalent experience
  • 12+ years of work experience in technical product management, with expertise in medical devices and sensors.
  • Proven experience managing the end-to-end development and launch of medical devices, with expertise in regulatory processes, clinical integration, and user-centric design.
  • Strong leadership and cross-functional relationship management skills, engagement with external partners, with an ability to align stakeholders around a common vision and deliver valuable results on time.
  • Demonstrated capability to thrive in ambiguous environments by leveraging data to create concrete options that advance prioritization and execution
  • Prior experience directly triaging and delegating initiatives across multiple partner teams.
  • Directly owned and managed partner proposals, selection and budget processes
  • Experience with sensor implementation in clinical studies and/or expertise in clinical validation of sensors.
  • This role requires regular communication with teams across multiple time zones. Candidates must be available for early morning or late evening calls, typically between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM PST or 7:00 PM and 10:00 PM PST, up to 2-3 times per week, as needed.

 

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with low-cost sensors, wearables, targeted to Low Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).
  • Experience conducting technology landscape assessments of diagnostics, devices, sensors or digital health solutions.
  • Experience working with IEC 62304 (Medical Device Software Life Cycle Processes) or other relevant medical device software development standards.
  • Experience with health-data and an understanding of data governance, security and privacy issues in healthcare.
  • Experience with developing or deploying in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) solutions in healthcare.
  • Proven track record in partner-enabled development and collaboration.

Pay & Benefits:

GH Labs is committed to paying employees equitably for substantially similar work. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $208,000 to $325,000. We aim to hire new employees between $208,000 to $260,000. allowing future compensation growth within the range based on aptitude in the role and context, and progress and performance against goals over time.
