This role is dedicated to supporting the Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) Working Group, which is the world’s leading automotive open source community focused on building an open technology platform for the future of software-defined vehicles. Eclipse SDV aims to accelerate innovation in automotive-grade in-car software stacks, relevant Cloud services, and required toolchains through open source and open specifications. Since its founding in March 2022, the working group has grown to 55 members and 27 active projects with significant further growth anticipated.
The Role
As a Senior Product Marketing Manager, you'll spearhead efforts to elevate awareness and adoption of our open source initiatives within the automotive industry. Collaborating closely with community members, you will shape and execute global business and marketing strategies. We are looking for a candidate with proven software product marketing experience, a knack for community building, and familiarity with open source and automotive technologies. Reporting to the Head of Outreach and Engagement, you'll work alongside community and marketing managers for other key Eclipse initiatives.
The successful candidate will be a friendly, open-minded, and self-motivated professional who strives for excellence, with a proven ability to collaborate with a variety of technical and business stakeholders and team members. This position requires a global outlook, attention to detail, relationship building, and exceptional project management skills.
Location of Position
This is a fully remote position located in the European Union. The Eclipse Foundation is headquartered in Belgium, with a global team spanning Europe, North America, and Asia.
Responsibilities
As the marketing team’s expert on the automotive software landscape, collaborate with marketing team members, internal stakeholders, and external agencies to plan and execute marketing initiatives in support of the working group’s annual program plan and objectives.
Collaborate with program and community managers and their respective working group steering and marketing committees on the development of the annual program plan, and the associated annual marketing plan consistent with the implementation of their prioritised initiatives.
Define, implement, and execute joint marketing programs with our member companies to promote the Eclipse SDV value proposition and secure broad industry adoption of Eclipse SDV technologies.
Work with the community and marketing team to define, implement, and promote programs and create assets that encourage open collaboration within and across the automotive and SDV ecosystems. Assets and programs to include videos, articles, tutorials, webinars, survey reports, case studies, member success stories, and other content as deemed appropriate.
Define compelling positioning, messaging, and value propositions to drive Eclipse SDV membership and community growth.
Engage with developers and technical line of business leaders in the SDV and automotive communities to drive understanding of the SDV value proposition and ecosystem. Create compelling content to articulate this value proposition.
Make data-driven decisions to move Eclipse SDV initiatives forward. Forecast, measure and report the results of marketing initiatives. Keep the organisation up-to-date with market trends and competitive benchmarking. Propose improved ways of operating, based on the data.
Promote and support the Foundation’s presence at developer conferences and industry events. As required, assist with event planning, including working with event coordinators, and design teams for booth designs and on-site collateral. Attend both virtual and in-person events as needed.
Work with Sales, Business Development, and other internal teams to develop and implement programs for recruiting and retaining working group members.
Work with the community to promote project releases and associated deliverables including website, marketplace, documentation, marketing materials, testimonials and social media content.
Identify and engage with automotive software industry influencers via social media and enable them to promote Eclipse Foundation Automotive and SDV projects.
Support press and analyst relations, contributing to press releases and analyst presentations with a specific emphasis on the automotive sectors.
Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Marketing or equivalent. An MBA is a strong asset.
Proven experience (5+ years) in product marketing, preferably with a focus on automotive software.
Technical knowledge especially on automotive software is a plus but not mandatory
Track record of successfully working with developer communities. Experience in open source is highly desirable.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with an innate attention to detail to uphold all Eclipse SDV branding, positioning, and messaging across all content and collateral.
