JOB SUMMARY

Marriott International is entering a new chapter of growth and evolving how the company designs and manages products and services. We are seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Lodging Product Officer, APEC  to lead the lodging products and services organization for the region. The organization is an integration of Brand (strategy, management & operations), Global Design (interior design, project & construction management)  and Operations Services (F&B operations, F&B Design concepts, Rooms Operations, Spa, Quality), Pre-Opening Operations & Support, Procurement and Sustainability. This role leads a diverse team in managing our portfolio product strategy and experiences for the continent.  The team’s mission is to design and maintain profitable and sustainable brands for owners and market-leading experiences for consumers.  The team will collaborate closely with Continent Development to identify white space opportunities for growth and evolve brand experiences where there are gaps in owner value and/or customer experience.  Additionally, the team will closely collaborate with the Continent Commercial Team, in critical areas such as brand marketing to align and support the achievement of regional priorities, growth and performance.

The team will also work closely with the Global Lodging Products and Experiences design teams and partners to ensure brand identity, service and culture, and key proof points are clearly delivered through the design, development, and delivery of regionalized, branded moments of truth across the end-to-end experience for customers and members. The team’s scope of work will be aligned with the investment priorities of the continent.  Shared resources will be allocated to work in “pods”/cross-discipline teams that will execute against brand initiatives focused on the highest impact. The team will monitor key performance factors and drive continuous improvement across brand categories to differentiate, delight customers and drive outsized growth for owners and Marriott International.

CANDIDATE PROFILE 

Education and Experience 

Required

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Operations, Business Administration, Hospitality Management or related major.
  • 16+ years of relevant professional experience in brand management or 18+ years in a related function, demonstrating progressive career growth and patterns of exceptional performance.
  • Experience with strategy, design, and development of brands.
  • Property / market experience managing or supporting hotel performance 

Preferred

  • Continent Leadership: Extensive experience in leading regional teams and/or managing brand portfolios within the continent, with a proven track record of driving growth in diverse local markets. Deep Luxury Brand experience is highly desired.
  • Consumer Insights & Brand Strategy:  Ability to identify key consumer insights and moments of truth and create compelling brand positioning, proof points and experiences.
  • Product Design & Development: Experience across F&B concepting, physical design concepting, and experience development.
  • Partnership Development:  Ability to identify, concept and build partnerships that reinforce brand positioning and proof points.
  • Change Management: Demonstrated ability to lead innovation initiatives and manage change effectively within large, matrixed organizations, with a focus on adapting global strategies to meet continent or regional needs.

              

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES 

Brand Advocacy

  • Act as a brand ambassador, promoting brand values and initiatives to key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Represent brands at conferences and with other relevant communities and groups.   
  • Internally advocating for region and market needs and nuances to shape brand positioning, proof points and experiences that work for the region and markets

Continent Portfolio Strategy & Insights 

  • Lead the creation of continent or regional portfolio strategies, in close partnership with Development and the Global Lodging Products & Experience leader, that informed by comprehensive market research, consumer insights, and emerging trends. Monitor the effectiveness of these strategies and evolve them as necessary to ensure they continue to meet local market dynamics.

Resource Allocation & Prioritization

  • Oversee the planning and strategic allocation of shared resources for key initiatives across the continent, ensuring the most impactful efforts receive focus.
  • Drive brand initiative prioritization process(es) for the continent teams across categories.
  • Determine additional resource needs (e.g., agencies, consulting, flex resources) specific to the continent and monitor the effectiveness of spend and effort.

Integrated Product Design & Development

  • Lead an integrated lodging products team   to achieve the synergies and outcomes from the broad expertise and roles within the team
  • Incorporate physical design, food and beverage concepting, and service and culture design into lodging product development processes.
  • Effectively regionalize global brands to meet market needs and oversee the end-to-end creation of local brands.
  • Facilitate collaboration between cross-discipline teams or “pods” to ensure seamless execution of projects and initiatives.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and development opportunities for team members to foster an innovative and high-performance culture.

Performance Monitoring & Platform Management 

  • Maintain performance monitoring and customer listening platforms in alignment with global processes, identifying areas for improvement and driving actionable strategies.
  • Work closely with cross-discipline teams to ensure performance standards are met and to address any performance-related issues.
