Principal Product Manager IT


As a Principal Product Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the development and successful delivery of technology products within our organization. You will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams, defining product strategies, and executing plans to ensure the timely and efficient launch of innovative technology solutions that meet the needs of our customers and drive business growth. This role demands a deep understanding of technology, the product development lifecycle, market trends, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

The Company services a variety of trade channels including grocery, mass merchandise, specialty, convenience, drug, dollar, club, hardware, consumer electronics, and home centers. We bridge the gap between manufacturers and retailers, providing consumers access to the best products available in the marketplace today.

 

Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy and Vision: Develop and articulate a clear product vision and strategy in alignment with the company's overall objectives and customer needs. Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and gather customer feedback to identify opportunities and market gaps.
  • Product Roadmap and Planning: Create and manage the product roadmap, prioritizing feature releases and enhancements based on resources. Collaborate with engineering, design, marketing, and sales teams to define project scope, timelines, and resources.
  • Product Development and Execution: Lead cross-functional teams through the product development lifecycle, ensuring timely and high-quality project delivery. Oversee the design, development, and testing phases, ensuring alignment with strategy and requirements.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Build and lead a high-performing product team, fostering collaboration and innovation. Provide mentorship, guidance, and support for team members' growth and skill development.
  • Market Analysis and Customer Insights: Monitor industry trends, customer needs, and competitor offerings to identify potential product enhancements and new opportunities. Collect and analyze user feedback and data to inform product decisions.
  • Product Launch and Adoption: Work with marketing and sales teams to develop effective product launch strategies to drive adoption and market penetration. Monitor post-launch performance and address any user issues.
  • Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire product lifecycle, including updates, upgrades, and retirements.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Define and manage the product development budget, ensuring resources are allocated cost-effectively.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Direct Reports

Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools, and resources

Indirect Reports

May delegate work to others and provide guidance, direction, and mentoring to indirect reports

 

Travel
Travel and driving are essential duties of this job. Travel up to 25%.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education Level: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • Experience Requirements: 15+ years of experience, with proven experience as a Product Manager or Product Leader in the technology industry

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong technical background, familiarity with software development processes, experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies, and proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project)
  • Organized, detail-oriented, able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent customer service orientation
  • Supervisory skills including delegation, training, and performance evaluation

Environmental & Physical Requirements
Office/Sedentary Requirements
Work is primarily in an office environment. Ability to sit for extended periods (66%+ each day), hear the telephone, enter data on a computer, and occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
