The Sr. Product Manager will work with the Product Leaders and other team members on a regular basis to provide updates on state performance, and product improvements. He/She will also work with Actuaries and Product Leaders to perform analyses at a state level exercising quantitative and analytical skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Personal Lines Product Manager, you’ll support our business through the following areas:

  • Work closely with Product Leaders to introduce new products, enhance existing products, and/or enter into new markets to reach company profit and growth targets.
  • Own and manage the profit & loss of several products and coverages across multiple states, while driving growth and market share in assigned regions/territories.
  • Collaborate with business partners throughout the organization on the rate and rule revision process, including confirming scope and timelines, preparing filings to be submitted to state insurance departments, working with various vendors, coordinating responses to regulator questions, and implementing final revision changes.
  • Apply mathematical and statistical techniques to analyze profitability on a state basis, and work with Actuaries and Product Managers to make recommendations on what actions can be taken to improve product performance.
  • Contribute to the development of new products: The Sr. Product Manager is expected to participate in the analysis and implementation of new products; Post implementation of new products, the Sr. Product Manager will be responsible for applying quantitative and analytical methods to analyze state performance and identify additional areas of research.
  • Review insurance company filings, in particular rate algorithms and underwriting guidelines, along with industry and regulatory changes to provide recommendations that will improve product launches, changes, and enhancements.
  • Implement point-of-sale and internal user underwriting rules as directed by the Product Management Team to achieve business goals.
  • Other duties as needed to support our Personal Lines product franchise.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience managing homeowners insurance in the Florida or Texas markets is mandatory and required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience; Master’s Degree in Business/Insurance or Professional designation in Actuarial Sciences preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working with Personal Homeowners Insurance
  • At least 2-3 years of experience launching new products, coverages or endorsements or introducing insurance in new territories, states or regions
  • Knowledge of SQL, SAS, R, Python, Table, and/or other programming/data query/reporting knowledge preferred, in addition, intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel is required
  • Related experience in data analysis or data mining preferred

SKILLS AND QUALITIES

  • Ability to utilize quantitative approaches to generate sound business analyses with detail orientation. Identify results out of the norm, draw conclusions and articulate findings
  • Skilled in linking multiple data sources to organize data into a logical format for analysis
  • Comfortable with uncertainty and can recommend/make decisions based upon extrapolation or education assumptions despite lack of data or information
  • Self-motivated with a can-do attitude and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work as a team player to deliver results effectively and efficiently to a variety of internal and external customers

Personal Qualifications:

The candidate selected for this position will be a creative, out-of-the-box thinker who is intellectually curious with a demonstrated interest in learning. This person will also need to be a self-motivated, high-energy individual who can easily function in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment, and can manage uncertainty by being able to take steps or recommend actions without all information being available. He/she must be accustomed to working on multiple tasks in parallel and committed to meeting deadlines, including some with short time frames. This professional must demonstrate strong leadership skills, including the ability to gain credibility with and influence both team members and management.
